We’re seeking a dynamic candidate to join the Pure Treats Team.

Pure Treats is a leader in natural dog & cat treats and food, and has been offering pet-parents pure, natural and nutrient rich options since 2005. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Vendor Manager plays a key role in allowing Pure Treats to deliver exceptional value and best-in-class service levels to our valued customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance and management of our manufacturing partners. The role will focus on managing business continuity from a supply chain perspective, value creation, and the sourcing of high-quality human-grade ingredients for our treats, food, and toppers.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, ambitious, data-driven, has relevant vendor management experience and is looking for an opportunity to make an impact within a dynamic team and fast-paced environment.

Freeze Dry Manufacturing: Collaborate with our manufacturing partners to ensure the programs are executed on time and to specification.

– Participate in determining capacity planning and allocation with internal teams.

– As the primary point of contact, keep manufacturing partners accountable for completing orders on time and delivering on capacity programs through regular updates and involvement on detailed production planning.

– Ensure manufacturing partners are maintaining their quality, regulatory and export certifications.

– Keep manufacturing partners accountable to deliver high-quality products that meet the specifications.

– Responsible for quality sampling plans being executed.

– Identify root causes of any quality failures, implement corrective actions, and resolve inventory issues of affected product.

– Allocate manufacturing orders to respect lead times and volume allocations, to maximize production efficiencies, and to minimize costs.

– Prepare purchase and manufacturing orders accurately, confirm receipts and acceptance.

– Process receivings, raw material consumption, and ERP entries. Resolve shipping or pricing discrepancies and ensure remittances are timely to maximize payment terms.

– Continuously improve and streamline the Procurement processes and tools, including supply chain ERP processes.

– Lead new supplier audits and on-boarding processes.

Raw Material Sourcing: Ensure our manufacturing partners have sources of high-quality raw materials when needed and at the right price.

– Drive strategic purchasing decisions that support profitable business growth.

– Maintain a strong supplier base to ensure continuity of supply in alignment with business objectives, values, and emerging product needs

– Demonstrate strong commodity market awareness and ability to predict pricing fluctuations, as well as resourcefulness and determination to adapt and find solutions to mitigate cost impacts.

– Demonstrate exceptional contract negotiation skills to lock in preferred pricing and build relationships with key suppliers.

– Develop and implement strategies that minimize shortage risks (primary/secondary suppliers, supplier capacities)

– Determine when additional or alternate sources are required and implement proactive strategies to minimize product flow disruptions and cost impacts.

Other:

– Drive best practices including analytical tools, negotiation preparation methodologies, rigorous RFP mentality and process, and sourcing execution practices

– Work closely with the planning teams to secure materials to coincide with downstream manufacturing schedules

– Discover new opportunities to expand the supply chain to support the company’s growth.

– Collaborate with vendors, and internal teams to identify and implement opportunities for supply chain efficiency improvements, quality enhancements, cost reductions, and materials management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A positive, collaborative “can-do” attitude.
  • Five years experience in a supply chain role.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, inquisitiveness, and desire to improve processes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and particularly strong Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated and having demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change.
  • A strong sense of urgency, initiative, and proven ability to follow through.
  • Proven success in managing purchasing execution and supplier performance, with demonstrated ability to identify gaps and drive resolution for cost minimization and timely delivery.
  • Sourcing and negotiation experience, ability to identify primary and secondary sources as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a solid track record of developing positive supplier relationships.
  • Highly detail oriented with strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations when a potential process change is needed.
  • Experience with a major ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics in particular would be an asset.
  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or similar.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. French an asset.
  • Position will be either at our Vaudreuil-Dorion office or can be remote if the candidate is located outside Montreal.
